New Year in Les Deux Alpes
We booked a rather spontaneous ski trip to the Alps, for that weird bit between Christmas and New Year. Just the four of us, up a mountain, skiing....... eek. We booked knowing that it wouldn't be the same kind of ski trip pre little ones but that we would just enjoy the beautiful scenery, the snow, and ski when we could. We chose the resort of Les Deux Alpes as it has a good reputation for snow, an easy enough transfer from Lyon and we found what looked like the perfect hotel. And it didn't disappoint!
The Hotel Cote Brune sat right at the base of the nursery slopes and the main gondolier that takes you up to the glacier. Our family room was perfect, good size and had a section off the main room under the eaves for the girls to sleep, which was also curtained. The girls loved this and called it their 'princess hideout'. The hotel served fab food and had a lovely spa, which I took full advantage of with a massage on our last morning, I'd definitely recommend.
We had a local nanny who came to the hotel to take care of the littlest one for a few hours each morning which worked out well as she was not a fan of the local creche! We took our eldest out with us, my other half is a pretty hot skier so he was able to teach and take care of her on the slopes. In the afternoons after a yummy lunch, I just chilled with the girls while Chris went up the big boy slopes, happy days.
I was quite surprised how well the trip turned out, I imagined it could be a bit of a juggle with the kids and getting out to ski, but thanks to the great hotel and fantastic facilities at Les Deux Alpes, we didn't just survive, but had a really wonderful week of skiing and a magical time seeing in the New Year!
